Okay is perhaps one of the most evasive bands on the internet. With no wikipedia page and the generic search term “okay”, I know very little of their history. I received a copy of Huggable Dust from a friend in 2008 and fell in love with it. It is an album that is far from perfect, in fact, I’d say it’s a little redundant if you were to listen to it in it’s entirety. But taken in small chunks, 2 songs here, 3 songs there, it is refreshing and sweet. Principle songwriter, Marty Anderson, suffers from Crohn’s Disease (as does my father), which can range anywhere from a mild inconvenience to a severe debilitation. In spite of the pain, Anderson crafts absolutely beautiful and heartfelt songs that are anchored by his strange, creaky vocal delivery. This song, “Only”, is one of the most played in my iTunes library and one that will hopefully pique your interest in seeking out some more from this great songwriter.
