Let me tell you something. I’m obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy. I started watching Season One during the first week of January and have flown through the series. I’m currently on Episode 18 of Season Seven. It’s addicting and yes, it’s one of those prime-time dramas that showcases scene-appropriate music & loads of audio cues (you know, dramatic strings when someone is saying something really important & piano ballads when someone dies on the operating table) and so it’s pretty easy to tune out the tunes after a while.
But, during an episode I watched today, where one of the pregnant main characters is deciding if drinking coffee is worth the risk to her baby, a song caught my attention - a catchy pop jingle that immediately got stuck in my head. After googling the lyrics, I discovered it’s a song called “Everything at Once” by the Australian songstress Lenka.
I first discovered her when watching Moneyball (Brad Pitt’s daughter performs a very sweet version of Lenka’s song “The Show”) and since then, I’ve been meaning to get her album but just haven’t gotten around to it. But now, after hearing “Everything at Once,” I know that I need to get around to it. Sure, she may be too mainstreamy-cutesy for some people’s tastes, but why don’t you take a listen & decide for yourself?:
