Our newest episode of the podcast is available, featuring Leopold and His Fiction! We sat around a warm garage and talked about their history, relocating from San Francisco, and played some great music. As someone who is completely inept when it comes to describing musical styles, words tend to fail me when it comes to writing these episode descriptions. Leopold and His Fiction have cultivated a sound that blends all your favorite elements of rock, soul, and garage. There are near-epic guitar solos, fuzzy vocals, bass lines that hit you in the chest and throw off your heart’s rhythm, along with a hundred other cliche descriptors used by journalists and blogs. Skip the hyperbole, personification, and alliteration. Just listen to the music.

This week, we’re featuring a selection of songs from artists featured on STUCK. Randy Reynolds and Chris Kim do some great work over there and present some of the best bands and artists from around Texas. Starting in May, they’ll be putting out a brand new podcast, with a little production help from myself, to bring you behind the scenes of STUCK and feature some of their current projects. The first episode of STUCKcast should be available very soon, and I’m beyond excited to be producing it with them. Randy was even gracious enough to let me talk on mic a little bit, but don’t let that sour the experience for you.

Also, Paul McCartney stopped by for this episode to offer his thoughts on all of the STUCK artists.

The Blurries were in town this weekend and were gracious enough to stop by my house to do a podcast. Their debut LP, Paper Cuts, is a wonder to behold. It’s energetic, passionate, and yes, jangly. We had a good conversation about their music and history, in spite of me being sick, and got some really nice, stripped down performances of a few songs.

If they’re playing anywhere near you, go see them. You will not be disappointed. You can find more information on the band and their music at any of the following digital destinations:

The Shivery Shakes EP already ranks in one of my top releases of 2012, so I was thrilled to sit down with them and hear some acoustic versions of their songs. We talked about their music for about 5 minutes of the podcast. The other 40 minutes were filled with conversations about secret tracks, Doctor Who, fleshlights, and callbacks to a variety of subjects. It was definitely one of the more fun episodes I’ve been a part of.

Be sure to get their EP over at Bandcamp for only $5. It’s well worth your money and one that you’ll be playing over and over again. The perfect soundtrack for the upcoming summer.
